Adopt a Youth Club
Lions in District 105SE have set up a new programme called “Adopt a Youth Club”. This scheme aims to support affiliated Youth Clubs which are run by what most of us remember as The Girls and Boys Brigade. The Youth Team have worked together to benefit young people across Kent, Sussex and Surrey. Local Youth Groups often need the support of funding and volunteers, this scheme proposes to offer youth Clubs additional support for one year.
It works because Lions have a lot to offer in terms of advice. We know where to go when legal advice is needed and where to go to educate about Fund Raising. Youth Clubs often need this link between themselves and the community.
Here is a perfect way to introduce the many activities that Lions have for Youth to young people within an easy framework (e.g. Young Ambassador, Football, Peace Poster). We have a built in audience for the projects and the youngsters have programmes at their Youth Clubs which they will look forward to.
One great advantage to this scheme is that the system of Youth Clubs is countrywide and we could set this up as a Lions scheme for every District at the push of a button!! Eve Johnson of Kent Youth has agreed to " Push that button " for us and get the programme rolling out throughout all areas where there are Lions Clubs.
This idea was presented at the meeting of all District Youth Chairmen. If you need further details of this excellent scheme, please e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
