The administration of 0845 telephone numbers allocated to Lions and Lioness Clubs has been transferred to MDHQ with immediate effect. The administrative staff at MDHQ will act as a focal point for all requests and liaise with our supplier. Those Clubs who already have a 0845 telephone number allocated to them should inform MDHQ of any changes via email or telephone 0845 833 9502.
These numbers are free of charge – no connection charge; no line rental; and no charge on incoming calls - and the caller pays only ‘local’ rate charges when calling a Club from anywhere in the British Isles from a fixed phone (i.e. not mobiles). There is no need to change telephone numbers when the Club contact changes – your Club’s 0845 telephone number remains unchanged. All you do is notify MDHQ of the new redirection telephone number and contacts details.
MDHQ will need to know your Club name and the Club contacts name, address and telephone number. Information held at MDHQ is covered by the Data Protection Act, and personal details will not be released to any third party.
For those Clubs who have not requested a 0845 telephone number, it is very quick and simple to set-up and can be routed to any standard, fixed UK telephone number.
The use of these numbers will ensure that any member of the public that wishes to contact a Club has a permanent telephone number, which can be redirected to any landline number in the British Isles beginning 01 or 02 – the use of mobile telephone numbers is not covered by the agreement between Lions Clubs International (MD105) and our supplier.
The 0845 telephone number can be displayed on all Club’s printed material; their website; in local directories; public libraries; etc. – the list is endless, and is up to each Club to manage its publication. No longer will a Club have to remember where it has displayed a contact telephone number when the Club Officer changes – they will remain constant.
All Clubs who have not requested a 0845 telephone number yet are urged to do so.
