Speech Aid Unit uses a microphone to pick up speech which is then amplified by the Unit so a weak voice can be heard by others.
Door Hangers are a visual request for help in case of an emergency for not only the hearing impaired but also for those with a visual impairment and mobility problems. Used in the same way as a “Do Not Disturb Sign” when placed on the outside of a door inhabited by someone who may not hear the fire alarm bell or may need assistance to evacuate the building.
Deaf Aware Scheme provides qualified Trainers to provide training and awareness for Lions and employees in the retail and financial sectors and care environment on how to promote better communication between hearing people and those with a hearing impairment.
I SEE WHAT YOU’RE SAYING Badges are worn by severely or profoundly deaf people who rely on lip reading as their main means of communication. The Badge indicates the person should face the Badge wearer as they need to see the movements of their lips.
Collection of Used Hearing Equipment Unused hearing aids can be collected and is sent to Frankland Prison, Durham for refurbishment. Once refurbished they are sent to hearing impaired people abroad.
